What Are We Investigating?

In this project, we’re digging into the SBS 質問を募集する, Shitsumon o Boshū Suru (“I’m Taking Questions”) sections from Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. These pages give fans a chance to directly ask the creator questions and the answers range from funny to surprisingly deep.

Our Research Questions

• Which characters are most frequently mentioned by fans?
• Do certain volumes focus more on main characters or side characters?
• Are there patterns in what fans ask over time?

What We've Found So Far

One major takeaway is that fans ask about a mix of both major and minor characters. This supports our idea that character popularity and curiosity aren't limited to the main cast. We also noticed that some characters are asked about more in early volumes while others appear more often later on showing how fan interest shifts with the story.
